A 36-year-old man died in a fire in a dormitory room on Pushkin Avenue in Minsk, the Investigative Committee reported<\/a>. His 44-year-old female partner was rescued. She is in serious condition in hospital.<\/p>\n

The fire broke out on the evening of October 15. While extinguishing the blaze, emergency responders found the man\u2019s body and an unconscious woman in the room. Resuscitation efforts succeeded in saving her life.<\/p>\n

An investigative team worked at the scene. Investigators examined the premises together with specialists from the State Committee for Forensic Examinations and personnel from the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Expert examinations have been ordered to establish the exact cause of the man\u2019s death and the circumstances of the fire.<\/p>\n

The main working theory is that the fire was caused by careless handling of fire while smoking. The Frunzensky District Department of the Investigative Committee in Minsk is investigating the circumstances.<\/p>\n
