Fortified areas, as we used to call them. A certain number of them are located along the western border. Every point must be known to the servicemen, especially those we will call up from the reserves. I remember this from my own military service in the army. We were taught back then: if anything happens, you must be in that trench with that particular weapon. We are doing the same today so that our servicemen know which direction to operate in. They must be called up more than once, visit the fortified area and know what weapons they will use to defend our country,” he said.

Lukashenka also outlined the objectives of the inspection.

“What did we want to see as a result of these inspections? First, the ability to bring a formation, including the internal troops, to full combat readiness within the established time limits. Second, the readiness of the military formation to carry out its designated tasks and the level of training of servicemen to perform the tasks assigned to them. And third, most importantly, whether we can respond in a timely and appropriate manner to any situation that threatens national security,” he said.

According to Lukashenka, State Secretary of the Security Council Aliaksandr Valfovich had reported that servicemen were given no preferential treatment during the inspections.

“That is what I was told, but I have other information. We will discuss this. I personally monitored every stage of the snap inspection and even saw things you did not want me to see. The state secretary, among others, kept me informed of the interim results. Today, we have results that give us reason to consider the further development of the troops — and not only negative results,” Lukashenka continued.

He stressed that large-scale inspections were being conducted to reflect real combat conditions.

“In wartime, and I particularly emphasise this, unity and cohesion are needed across all the armed forces, not just the army, but the entire state. We must be prepared for the worst-case scenario. We have assessed these scenarios and know what they are. But we must not allow another escalation of aggression. No one needs that today. We must not take any actions that could be interpreted as aggression on our part,” he said.

Lukashenka also stressed that the military should not behave aggressively but must always be prepared for a “possible aggressive action by our neighbours or through the territory of our neighbours.”

In addition, Lukashenka said today that Latvia had staged an incident on the border with Belarus to secure additional military funding. His main argument was that such provocations had to be coordinated with him, but no one had consulted him.

Lukashenka also saw a strategic advantage in the fences that neighbouring countries had erected along their borders with Belarus amid the migration crisis. In his view, although migrants can get past the fences in a matter of minutes, Lithuanians, Poles and Latvians would have to overcome them if they attacked Belarus.

Aliaksandr Lukashenka said at a meeting today on the results of an inspection of the combat and mobilisation readiness of the 7th Separate Special Police Brigade of the Internal Troops of the Interior Ministry that Belarus has fortified positions that the armed forces would occupy within 24 hours if necessary. “I will not hide this […]

{"dTVKfmI95PYT":"Lukashenka Tells Khrenin to Identify Fortified Positions to Be Occupied Within 24 Hours

142338,143291,143090

post-588684","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","category-army","category-politics
["GET
