The Russian Foreign Ministry published the text of the statement.<\/p>\n<p><i>&#8220;We express particular concern over the activities of NATO and its member states aimed at creating challenges and threats to the security and interests of Russia and Belarus. Among the most destabilizing actions by NATO countries, which provoke the most serious strategic risks, we consider above all the continuing hostile steps in the context of the Ukrainian crisis, fraught with a direct armed conflict between nuclear powers; plans and practical steps to deploy U.S. and other Western ground-based intermediate- and shorter-range missiles in Europe; the buildup of missile defense capabilities that form and fuel the European segment of the U.S. global missile defense system; the deployment of military infrastructure and substantial combat forces; as well as the intensification of military activities by alliance member states along the borders of the Union State of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus; and the development of schemes and capabilities for so-called NATO joint nuclear missions, based on U.S. nuclear weapons deployed in Europe&#8221;<\/i>, the statement <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mid.ru\/ru\/foreign_policy\/news\/2152999\/\">says<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, its authors spoke out against the deployment of weapons of any kind in space, the use of force or the threat of force against space objects, and attempts to use space for the purposes of &#8220;armed confrontation,&#8221; including as part of the U.S. &#8220;Golden Dome&#8221; project.<\/p>\n<p>The statement also notes that Belarus and Russia have launched the process of developing a Eurasian Charter of Diversity and Multipolarity in the 21st Century and called on all states to join it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Russia and Belarus expressed concern over NATO activity in the First Committee of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.
