Aliaksandr Lukashenka<\/b> once again demanded that Belarusian scientists \u201czero out drones.\u201d Today, he visited the testing ground of the State Scientific Institution \u201cO. V. Roman Institute of Powder Metallurgy,\u201d where an exhibition of military and civilian developments by domestic scientists was organized for him.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese are substantial state investments. Are they producing the results they can and that we need? Are we getting the return we should be getting? General discussions are of no use to anyone. The tasks are extraordinary. They need to be solved immediately. There is no way forward without science,\u201d<\/i> his press service quoted him as saying.<\/p>\n

As an example, Lukashenka cited the development of an effective means of countering drones.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we are smart, capable of combat, advanced and have character, then do it. We need to zero out drones. The most advanced countries and companies are working to solve this task,\u201d<\/i> he said.<\/p>\n

This is not the first time Lukashenka has made such a demand. In early August, at a meeting on the creation of the Academy of Intelligent Technologies, he expressed hope that the new institution would be able to develop a \u201cexceptionally powerful means of countering drones<\/i>\u201d that would \u201crender all drones in the world obsolete.\u201d<\/a> In January this year, while approving measures to protect the state border in 2026, Lukashenka regretted<\/a> that the country had not yet learned to respond to all drone incursions and destroy them with 100% effectiveness. Before that, however, in November 2025, he publicly dreamed of an invulnerable drone<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Today, Lukashenka also warned the chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences, Uladzimir Karanik<\/b>, that his next report should not be a \u201cfairy tale.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cA result is needed. In preparing for this visit, I thought about the fact that Uladzimir Stepanavich will, for the first time, report not only to me but also to the people on his achievements in ensuring state security. This should not be another fairy tale about how we will do something tomorrow,\u201d<\/i> he said.<\/p>\n

Deputy Prime Minister Viktar Karankevich<\/b> and Deputy Head of the Lukashenka Administration Pavel Muraveika<\/b> reported that the tasks assigned to scientists were being addressed.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo that we formulate the task: go and solve it. And monitor it every six months,\u201d<\/i> the head of state said. \u201cThese general discussions are of no use to anyone. We set serious, extraordinary tasks for the military. The tasks that need to be solved must be solved immediately. There will be no other tasks. We do not need scientists who walk around telling fairy tales,\u201d<\/i> Lukashenka responded.<\/p>\n

During the visit, he was shown drones, tests of high-energy explosives, protected vehicles, body armor and special equipment, as well as means of detecting, tracking and destroying UAVs.<\/p>\n
