The foreigners chose a section near the \u010cepkeliai Nature Reserve, where there is no permanent border barrier in the marshland.<\/p>\n<p>According to the State Border Guard Service, the group was detected using video surveillance equipment. After crossing the border, the migrants split into smaller groups.<\/p>\n<p>Border guards and police blocked nearby roads. Patrols reinforced by canine handlers with dogs were sent to search for the individuals who had crossed the border. All the migrants were detained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe 35 migrants did not resist during their detention. All of them were men aged between 20 and 30. Eleven foreigners had documents, while the others did not. The individuals who crossed the border identified themselves as citizens of Afghanistan and Iraq,\u201d Lithuanian border guards said.<\/p>\n<p>By Friday morning, 29 of those detained had been returned to Belarus. Five people were still being questioned on Friday morning. One of the detainees complained of feeling unwell.
