Gomel customs officers thwarted two attempts to illegally transport pears to Russia, the State Customs Committee reports.<\/p>\n

Truck drivers working for a Belarusian transport company presented documents declaring fresh carrots. However, during inspections, customs officers discovered consignments of pears without documents or phytosanitary certificates hidden behind the declared vegetables.<\/p>\n

The 40 tonnes of pears are estimated to be worth more than 270,000 roubles.<\/p>\n

Administrative proceedings have been initiated under Article 13.12 of the Code of Administrative Offences (violation of goods transportation procedures). The article provides for a fine of up to 50% of the value of the \u043f\u0440\u0435\u0434\u043c\u0435\u0442 of the administrative offence.<\/p>\n
