Belarus is expected to see the launch of its first two domestic crypto banks soon. They will be \u201cwell-known players in the crypto market.\u201d The issue was discussed at a meeting of the Supervisory Board of the Hi-Tech Park on September 28, the Belarusian government\u2019s press service reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Aliaksandr Turchyn<\/b>, addressed the development of the crypto sector and the establishment of crypto banks.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor more than six months, extensive work has been carried out to develop regulations implementing the head of state\u2019s decree on crypto bank operations, which came into force in July this year. A number of government resolutions and legal acts by the National Bank and the Supervisory Board of the Hi-Tech Park have been adopted. The necessary organizational measures have been taken to put the ideas set out in the head of state\u2019s decree into practice. Today, the result of all this work is that decisions have been prepared to register the first two crypto banks in the country\u2019s history,\u201d<\/i> Turchyn said.<\/p>\n

According to Dzmitry Kalechyts<\/b>, First Deputy Head of the Secretariat of the Hi-Tech Park Supervisory Board, the crypto banks are established players in the Hi-Tech Park and the crypto sector.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe organizations that are now planning to become crypto banks are well-known players in the Park and in the crypto market. In other words, they have substantial practical experience in the crypto sector,\u201d<\/i> Kalechyts said.<\/p>\n

Kalechyts noted that all key aspects of crypto bank operations have been regulated, teams and IT infrastructure have been established, and technical and legal audits have been conducted.<\/p>\n

The crypto banks will be registered as residents of the Hi-Tech Park and will then have to obtain accreditation from the National Bank.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is also important to note that there will be dual regulation, by the Park and by the National Bank. We believe this will undoubtedly help improve the financial flows ecosystem, increase the technological sophistication of this business, strengthen trust in financial institutions, attract investment and boost income in our country.<\/i><\/p>\n

For a crypto bank to become fully operational as a crypto bank, the second stage is to obtain approval and be entered into the National Bank\u2019s register of crypto banks. Accordingly, the National Bank will make its decision after the decision taken by the Supervisory Board,\u201d<\/em> Kalechyts said.<\/p>\n

The Hi-Tech Park expects the establishment of crypto banks to improve the efficiency of the financial market and help diversify financial instruments.<\/p>\n
