Russia struck the building of Ukraine’s National Academy of Sciences this afternoon. The academy’s press service said there had been a “direct hit by a Russian drone on the building of the National Academy of Sciences”.<\/p>\n

A fire broke out in the building. Some academy staff were trapped by the flames. A rescue operation is underway at the scene.<\/p>\n

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy<\/b> responded to the attack and vowed retaliation.<\/p>\n

“A Russian strike against the building of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences. A rescue operation is underway, firefighters are extinguishing the blaze, and people who may have been inside the building are being searched for. All services are involved. Today, a pharmaceutical company and petrol stations were also attacked in Kyiv, a business centre in Dnipro, and civilian facilities, businesses and communications infrastructure in other cities and regions as well. Unfortunately, there are fatalities\u2026 My condolences to the families and loved ones. Russia will definitely face a response for this,”<\/i> Zelenskyy said.<\/p>\n
