{"id":582414,"date":"2026-09-28T13:02:35","date_gmt":"2026-09-28T10:02:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/reform.news\/?p=582414"},"modified":"2026-09-28T13:29:44","modified_gmt":"2026-09-28T10:29:44","slug":"five-kalinouski-regiment-volunteers-sentenced-in-absentia-to-12-and-20-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/reform.news\/en\/five-kalinouski-regiment-volunteers-sentenced-in-absentia-to-12-and-20-years","title":{"rendered":"Five Kalinouski Regiment Volunteers Sentenced in Absentia to 12 and 20 Years"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>The Minsk City Court on September 14 sentenced five volunteers from the Kalinouski Regiment in absentia.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/spring96.org\/ru\/news\/121282\">According<\/a> to the human rights center Viasna, <strong>Yury Makitau<\/strong> was sentenced to 20 years in prison, while <b>Krystsina Stankevich<\/b><strong>, <b>Mikhail Chuprynski<\/b>, <b>Mikalai Boika<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0and <strong>Natallia Nikitsina<\/strong> each received 12 years.<\/p>\n<p>Special proceedings against the five Kalinouski Regiment volunteers began in May 2026. The trial started on August 20. All the defendants are outside Belarus, so the case was heard in absentia.<\/p>\n<p>They were charged under the following articles:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Part 2 of Article 285 (\u201cParticipation in a criminal organization\u201d),<\/li>\n<li>Part 2 of Article 290-5 (\u201cParticipation in a terrorist organization\u201d),<\/li>\n<li>Part 1 of Article 357 (\u201cConspiracy or other actions committed with the aim of seizing power\u201d),<\/li>\n<li>Part 3 of Article 361-1 (\u201cParticipation in an extremist formation\u201d),<\/li>\n<li>Parts 1 and 2 of Article 361-3 (\u201cParticipation in an armed formation or armed conflict, military operations, recruitment or training of persons for such participation on the territory of a foreign state\u201d),<\/li>\n<li>Parts 1 and 2 of Article 361-4 (\u201cFacilitating extremist activity\u201d),<\/li>\n<li>Article 361-5 (\u201cTraining or other preparation for participation in extremist activity\u201d).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Minsk City Court on September 14 sentenced five volunteers from the Kalinouski Regiment in absentia.
