Belarusian law enforcement officials have again issued threats to Threads users. In early June, the Investigative Committee<\/a> had already announced increased monitoring of Belarusians’ posts on Threads and TikTok. This time, a representative of the Interior Ministry spoke out.<\/p>\n

“We have repeatedly discussed and talked on one of your programs about Threads. At present, it really is a security threat. Why? Because many people simply do not understand this social network. According to all the latest research, the main age group on Threads is 30-40. This is the most active age group, which also wants to keep up with the trends.<\/i><\/p>\n

Everyone has understood one thing: it is enough to write some message on Threads… For example, I did not like the products on the shelf, or I did not like the way a traffic police officer looked at me, or I did not like the way someone walked past me and did something in relation to… We immediately post everything on social networks”<\/i>, the head of the Interior Ministry’s Department of Information and Public Relations Natallia Sakharchuk<\/strong> said on STV.<\/p>\n

According to her, if a person is dissatisfied with something or notices an injustice, they should not write about it on social networks but should contact the police.<\/p>\n

“There is one golden rule. If you have information about a crime being committed or being prepared, or if you really know about a violation, including traffic rules, and you have such a video, please make it available. There is a chatbot, there are police officers, there is the 102 phone number. But no, unfortunately, everyone wants to promote themselves. Everyone forgets the basic rule: you have to be accountable for everything you say”<\/i>, she added.<\/p>\n

Sakharczuk also said there had already been cases in which authors of posts published on social networks had been held administratively liable.<\/p>\n

“We have repeatedly identified such posts during monitoring, and people have been held administratively liable for them. And I want to say that you can be held not only administratively liable but also criminally liable. You have to think carefully about what you post on any social network, because the consequences will not be long in coming”<\/i>, she added.<\/p>\n

The Interior Ministry representative assured that police officers monitor the internet 24 hours a day, seven days a week.<\/p>\n

“Moreover, we are practically present everywhere. We see what is written and how it is written. And, of course, if it is genuinely information that requires a response, the response is immediate”<\/i>, she said.\u0441<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
