Employees of the economic crime unit uncovered a scheme to steal meat products at a procurement enterprise in Mahiliou region.<\/p>\n

According to the Belarusian Interior Ministry report<\/a>, a shipment of about three tonnes of beef was intercepted as it was being transported out of the country. The cargo had no accompanying documents. Investigators established that workers at the slaughtering facility had been stealing products from the enterprise and then selling them to private individuals.<\/p>\n

Investigators opened a criminal case over large-scale theft through abuse of official authority. Those involved face up to 10 years in prison. Authorities are investigating whether there were additional incidents and identifying other possible participants in the scheme.<\/p>\n
