On the fourth day of his visit to New York, Belarusian Foreign Minister Maksim Ryzhankou<\/strong> met with UN Secretary-General Ant\u00f3nio Guterres<\/strong>. According to the Belarusian Foreign Ministry<\/a>, Ryzhankou \u201cthanked him for his support for Belarus\u2019s peace initiatives.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThe UN Secretary-General highly praised Belarus\u2019s contribution to the work of the United Nations,\u201d<\/em> the press release said.<\/p>\n

At a meeting with World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus<\/strong>, the sides discussed projects planned for implementation in Belarus with WHO involvement. These included access to international platforms for purchasing medicines, training specialists and drawing on experience in studying the effects of radiation on human health.<\/p>\n

Trade and economic ties and the work of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation were discussed at a meeting with Georgian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe sides expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved in political dialogue over the past year and a half,\u201d<\/em> the Belarusian Foreign Ministry said.<\/p>\n

Ryzhankou and Bochorishvili exchanged views on the situation in the region and the need to continue contacts at international forums. The sides also noted an increase in mutual tourist flows and contacts between citizens of Belarus and Georgia.<\/p>\n

A meeting with Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi<\/strong> was also held on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York. It was announced that Oman\u2019s first-ever ambassador to Belarus, who will be based in Minsk<\/a>, will arrive in the country soon.<\/p>\n
