Belarusian Foreign Minister Maksim Ryzhankou<\/strong> took part in several high-level meetings at the UN headquarters in New York on September 25.<\/p>\n

According to the Belarusian Foreign Ministry\u2019s press service<\/a>, at a meeting on pandemic prevention, Ryzhankou spoke about Belarus\u2019s experience in \u201covercoming the consequences\u201d of COVID-19 and criticised Western measures. In his view, they \u201cled to disruptions in transport and logistics chains, monopolies in vaccine development and control over their distribution.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Ryzhankou called for international commitments not to impose any restrictions on supplies of medical products during emergencies. He said international cooperation in healthcare should include information exchange, joint research and stronger epidemiological surveillance.<\/p>\n

At a ministerial meeting of the Group of Friends of the Alliance of Civilizations, Ryzhankou spoke about intercultural and interfaith dialogue. He also opposed sanctions, calling for the rejection of \u201cdouble standards\u201d and \u201cunilateral measures\u201d in international relations.<\/p>\n

At a meeting of the Group of Friends in Support of Middle-Income Countries, Ryzhankou said such states needed to support one another and called for equal conditions for international cooperation. He also spoke out against secondary sanctions.<\/p>\n

At an event on the Global Development Initiative organised by China, the Belarusian delegation expressed support for China\u2019s approaches to sustainable development and said Belarus was ready to cooperate with China within the framework of the initiative.<\/p>\n

The diplomat also spoke at a meeting of the Group of Friends in Defence of the UN Charter. The Belarusian delegation called for stronger respect for international law and the use of diplomatic channels to \u201creduce the potential for conflict\u201d around the world and build trust between states.<\/p>\n

At an event on the return and restitution of cultural property organised at the initiative of Ghana\u2019s president, the Belarusian side supported African countries\u2019 efforts to reclaim their cultural heritage. Belarusian representatives proposed expanding international cooperation among historians, research organisations, museums, archives and libraries. Delegation members also called for geographical locations in Africa to be restored to their historical names.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
