Belarus and the Maldives signed an agreement on mutual visa exemption on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. The agreement was signed during a meeting in New York by the foreign ministers of the two countries, Maksim Ryzhankou<\/strong> and Iruthisham Adam<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

According to the Belarusian ministry, the sides also agreed during the talks to intensify cooperation in international organizations and develop the legal framework. In particular, this concerns agreements in the field of air transport.<\/p>\n

“Among the promising areas of cooperation, the sides identified education, training personnel for the medical sector, tourism and recreation, as well as supplies of Belarusian food products. They also coordinated the schedule of upcoming bilateral contacts at the highest and high levels”<\/em>, the Foreign Ministry added.<\/p>\n

The minister’s program of bilateral contacts was not limited to the Maldives.<\/p>\n

During a meeting with Ghana’s Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa<\/strong>, the sides discussed the implementation of trade and economic projects outlined during the African country’s president’s official visit to Belarus.<\/p>\n

The successful experience of agricultural mechanization was noted, and interest was expressed in developing relevant projects. Food security issues were discussed in the context of supplies of Belarusian food products and fertilizers to Ghana, as well as the purchase of cocoa beans in that country for Belarus’s confectionery industry.<\/p>\n

“We touched on cooperation in education and personnel training and confirmed our readiness to continue mutual support on the international stage. We emphasized the importance of an objective assessment of the historical consequences of colonial policy and agreed to continue joint efforts in this area”<\/em>, the ministry said.<\/p>\n

Ryzhankou met with Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, president of the International Committee of the Red Cross. The discussions focused on expanding the organization’s programs in Belarus and the possibility of a visit by the ICRC president to Minsk. The sides exchanged “views on the possible contribution of humanitarian organizations to facilitating the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine and addressing related humanitarian issues.”<\/p>\n

Finally, talks were held with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov<\/strong>. The sides highlighted the high level of political contacts and coordination between the foreign ministries, including through international organizations.<\/p>\n

“The prospects for implementing joint trade and economic projects were discussed, including supplies of Belarusian machinery and food products, as well as Azerbaijani fruit, vegetables and nuts”<\/em>, the Foreign Ministry added.<\/p>\n

The ministers signed a Cooperation Plan between the foreign ministries of Belarus and Azerbaijan for 2027\u20132028, as well as a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation between the ministries on consular matters.<\/p>\n
