{"id":580381,"date":"2026-09-23T20:20:42","date_gmt":"2026-09-23T17:20:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/reform.news\/?p=580381"},"modified":"2026-09-23T20:31:03","modified_gmt":"2026-09-23T17:31:03","slug":"lavrov-complains-to-rubio-about-ukraine-s-strikes-on-russia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/reform.news\/en\/lavrov-complains-to-rubio-about-ukraine-s-strikes-on-russia","title":{"rendered":"Lavrov Complains to Rubio About Ukraine\u2019s Strikes on Russia"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Russian Foreign Minister <strong>Sergey Lavrov<\/strong> and U.S. Secretary of State <strong>Marco Rubio<\/strong> met in New York on September 23 on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.<\/p>\n<p>As the Russian Foreign Ministry <a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/MID_Russia\/92357\">reported<\/a>, the sides held an <em>&#8220;in-depth exchange of views on a wide range of bilateral and international issues, following up on recent contacts at the highest level&#8221;<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking about the Russian-Ukrainian war, Lavrov said that Kyiv was engaged in <em>&#8220;close coordination&#8221;<\/em> with European countries. Ukraine\u2019s strikes on Russia were discussed at the meeting. According to the Russian foreign minister, they are leading to <em>&#8220;destabilization of global energy markets&#8221;<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;The Russian side reaffirmed its unconditional commitment to achieving the goals of the special military operation, including through a political and diplomatic settlement of the conflict based on eliminating its root causes&#8221;<\/em>, the press release said.<\/p>\n<p>Lavrov and Rubio also discussed the situation in the Middle East, the South Caucasus, Latin America and the Caribbean. Preparations for G20 events scheduled to take place before the end of the year were also discussed.<\/p>\n<p>The state of Russian-U.S. relations was also on the agenda. Moscow said they needed to be improved as soon as possible in line with the agreements reached by <strong>Donald Trump<\/strong> and <strong>Vladimir Putin<\/strong>.
