A meeting of the Commission for Reviewing Appeals from Citizens Concerning Offenses They Have Committed was held in Belarus. It was chaired by Prosecutor General Dzmitry Hora<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Prosecutor General’s Office press service reported<\/a> that the commission received appeals from citizens, in connection with which verification measures had been carried out.<\/p>\n

“In the appeals submitted, citizens expressed a desire to return to Belarus, lead law-abiding lives, and respect national symbols and traditions,”<\/em> the press release said.<\/p>\n

The number of appeals reviewed was not disclosed.<\/p>\n

Following its review, the commission decided to inform the applicants whether administrative or criminal cases had been opened against them, as well as whether there were outstanding orders for administrative detention.<\/p>\n

The commission’s work will continue.<\/p>\n

The return commission was established in early February 2023 by a decree of Aliaksandr Lukashenka<\/strong>. It is tasked with reviewing appeals from Belarusians who have left the country and fear returning home because of repression. The commission also determines the conditions for citizens’ return to the country.<\/p>\n
