He made the remarks during a meeting with Ukrainian President <strong>Volodymyr Zelenskyy<\/strong> in New York on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.<\/p>\n<p>A journalist asked the US president whether he was concerned that proceeds from a potential deal with Belarus on potash could somehow strengthen Russia\u2019s position on the world stage.<\/p>\n<p>Trump replied that he was not concerned at all. He said Belarus had a large supply of potash fertilisers, while US farmers needed favourable prices. He added that the United States wanted to secure a lower price than the one offered by Canada, while continuing to work with Canada, and that Belarus would like to sell its potash at a significantly lower price.<\/p>\n<p>The day before, Donald Trump said that <a href=\"https:\/\/reform.news\/en\/lithuanian-seimas-comments-on-possible-us-deal-for-belarusian-fertilizers\">the United States was working on a major deal to purchase potash from Belarus<\/a>.
