A territorial defence unit, together with an interdistrict inspectorate for the protection of wildlife and flora, destroyed an advancing enemy armoured group near Homiel. The episode was staged today as part of a command-and-staff exercise involving territorial defence command bodies.<\/p>\n

According to the exercise scenario, a sentry spotted an advancing armoured group. He reported it to the unit, which dealt with the enemy, protecting a platoon strongpoint. Territorial defence forces also practised storming a trench, medical training and countering enemy UAVs using turrets, the Defence Ministry\u2019s press service said.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday, as part of the command-and-staff exercise with territorial defence forces, we observed and practised issues inherent to modern warfare. These include the actions of assault troops, the active use of FPV drones to strike armoured targets, shelters and various other structures, as well as search and reconnaissance using means of mobility such as motorcycles, quad bikes and other equipment used in civilian life that can also be actively used, including for the defence of our country\u201d<\/em>, Chief of the General Staff Pavel Muraveika<\/strong> said.<\/p>\n

He noted that those called up for territorial defence training had quickly restored their skills. At the same time, many had arrived with a strong desire to defend the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cGiven the proximity to Ukrainian territory, the responsibility and determination of the entire population of the region show that this frontline region will not give an inch of its land to anyone. And these are not just words \u2014 they are actions and an indication of how people here live and work,\u201d<\/em> Muraveika added.<\/p>\n
