Belarus\u2019s gross domestic product totaled 209.1 billion rubles in January-August. In comparable prices, it grew by 1.9% compared with the same period last year. GDP growth stood at 2.1% after seven months, while a decline was recorded in January-March.<\/p>\n

The slowdown in growth in August, like the acceleration in July, was largely due to shifts in the timing of the harvesting campaign.<\/p>\n

The GDP deflator index stood at 113% in January-April.<\/p>\n

It should be noted that this year, according to the official socio-economic development forecast approved by Lukashenka, GDP is expected to grow by 2.8% for the year.<\/p>\n

Labor productivity measured by GDP increased by 1.6% in January-July to 43,180.1 rubles.<\/p>\n

Agricultural production<\/mark> across all categories of farms amounted to 6.7 billion rubles in August, down 6.4% from August last year. In agricultural organizations, it also decreased by 2.5% to 4.5 billion rubles. Over the first eight months, production across all categories of farms increased by 6.5% to 25.54 billion rubles, while production in agricultural organizations rose by 5.9% to 22.74 billion rubles.<\/p>\n

In August, agricultural organizations produced 155,100 tonnes of livestock and poultry, 4.4% more than last year, while milk production increased by 2.4% to 795,900 tonnes. Over the first eight months, livestock and poultry production grew by 5.3% to 1.24 million tonnes, while milk production increased by 2.8% to 6.23 million tonnes.<\/p>\n

As of September 1, 7.516 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops had been harvested, 3% less than last year.<\/p>\n

Industrial output<\/mark> amounted to 19.31 billion rubles in August. In comparable prices, it grew by 0.9% compared with August 2025. Over the first eight months, industrial output increased by 0.2% to 146.04 billion rubles.<\/p>\n

Industrial inventories stood at 11.025 billion rubles as of September 1. Compared with August 1, they decreased by 382.87 million rubles. Inventories amounted to 75.9% of the average monthly volume of production, down 3.2 percentage points over the month.<\/p>\n

Investment in fixed assets<\/mark> amounted to 5.07 billion rubles in August, up 0.1% year-on-year. Over the first eight months, investment increased by 3.1% to 36.86 billion rubles.<\/p>\n

In August, 237,500 square meters of housing<\/mark> were commissioned, 11.2% more than a year earlier. At the same time, the construction of housing with state support fell by 22.9% to 21,300 square meters. Over January-August, housing completions decreased by 11.6% to 2.05 million square meters, including a 36% decline in state-supported housing to 274,900 square meters.<\/p>\n

Freight turnover<\/mark> increased by 2.7% in January-August to 48.58 billion tonne-kilometers, while passenger transport decreased by 0.01% to 1.09 billion passengers.<\/p>\n

Retail turnover<\/mark> amounted to 10.75 billion rubles in August, up 10.2% compared with August 2025. Over the first eight months, retail turnover increased by 8.4% to 75.5 billion rubles.<\/p>\n

Wholesale turnover increased by 2.2% in August to 15.95 billion rubles. Over the first eight months, it rose by 0.2% to 121.06 billion rubles.<\/p>\n

Turnover in the catering sector increased by 2.3% in August to 746.8 million rubles. Over the first eight months, it grew by 1.8% to 5.23 billion rubles.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
