A total of 10,710 Belarusian citizens studied at Polish universities in the winter semester of the 2025\/2026 academic year. The figures are contained in an official response<\/a> from Poland\u2019s Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education Andrzej Szeptycki<\/strong>\u00a0to a request from Pavel Latushka<\/strong>, deputy head of the United Transitional Cabinet and head of the National Anti-Crisis Management.<\/p>\n

The largest number of Belarusian students studied at the University of Warsaw \u2014 490. It was followed by Maria Curie-Sklodowska University in Lublin \u2014 486, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan \u2014 453, the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology \u2014 405, and Jagiellonian University in Krakow \u2014 391.<\/p>\n

At least 566 Belarusian students studied at Polish medical universities. In addition, 54 Belarusian academics and researchers worked at Polish academic institutions.<\/p>\n

Pavel Barkouski, the United Transitional Cabinet\u2019s representative for national revival, noted that the large number of Belarusian students in Poland demonstrates the desire of many young people to receive a European education. At the same time, he drew attention to the decline in the number of Belarusian students over the past year, linked to changes in admission requirements.<\/p>\n

Pavel Latushka described Belarusians studying in Poland as a significant intellectual resource for the country\u2019s future.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll these students could be gaining knowledge and working at home, and our country would not be losing some of its best talent if it were not for Lukashenka\u2019s repressive policies. They deprive both Belarus as a whole and young people who seek to live and develop in a normal, democratic and free country of prospects,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n

He drew attention to the more than 500 Belarusian students at medical universities in Poland:<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is truly an impressive figure, especially given the acute shortage of doctors we are seeing in Belarus today. These are young specialists who could save Belarusians\u2019 lives and develop our healthcare system in the future, but because of the regime\u2019s criminal actions, they are forced to pursue their talents abroad.<\/em><\/p>\n

I very much hope that after democratic changes in Belarus, it will be possible to create conditions for many Belarusians with European education to return home, where they can realize their potential, build successful careers and work for the benefit of our independent state,\u201d<\/em> the politician added.<\/p>\n
