Border guards at the Bieniakoni checkpoint detained a 49-year-old Latvian citizen who tried to bring a narcotic substance into Belarus from Lithuania, the State Border Committee reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred on September 2. A border patrol found 12 electronic smoking devices hidden in the interior lining of a passenger bus. An examination showed that the liquid in one of the vapes contained hash oil.<\/p>\n

During operational and investigative measures, border guards identified the suspected owner of the device among the bus passengers. He was a 49-year-old resident of Riga. A medical examination also confirmed that he had used a narcotic substance.<\/p>\n

The man was detained. He is currently being held at the temporary detention facility of the Lida Border Guard Detachment.<\/p>\n

Criminal proceedings have been opened against the foreign national under Part 1 of Article 328 of the Criminal Code for illegal trafficking in narcotic substances and Part 1 of Article 328-1 for the illegal movement of narcotics across the border.<\/p>\n
