Everything else is the opinion of individuals,\u201d<\/em> he stressed.<\/p>\n<p>He was referring to the <a href=\"https:\/\/tsikhanouskaya.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/docs\/NBC_2026\/bel\/%D0%90%D0%B1%20%D0%BF%D0%B0%D0%B4%D1%82%D1%80%D1%8B%D0%BC%D1%86%D1%8B%20%D0%BD%D0%B5%D0%B7%D0%B0%D0%BB%D0%B5%D0%B6%D0%BD%D1%8B%D1%85%20%D0%B1%D0%B5%D0%BB%D0%B0%D1%80%D1%83%D1%81%D0%BA%D1%96%D1%85%20%D0%BC%D0%B5%D0%B4%D1%8B%D1%8F%20.pdf\">\u201cOn Supporting Independent Belarusian Media\u201d resolution<\/a>, adopted for the 2026 New Belarus conference. The document describes independent media as a necessary condition for society\u2019s access to verified information, free public debate and accountability of political institutions.<\/p>\n<p>The democratic forces call on international partners to provide independent Belarusian media with long-term institutional funding while preserving editorial independence, increase support for digital security and investigative journalism, and provide journalists with legal, social and psychological assistance. The document also calls for expanding cooperation between Belarusian and European media and ensuring independent outlets have access to European programs supporting information resilience and countering disinformation.<\/p>\n<p>Via\u010dorka\u2019s statement came amid public criticism of independent media by <b>Siarhei Tsikhanouski<\/b>. Earlier, Nasha Niva published an article about Tsikhanouski\u2019s birthday celebration in the United States, describing the event as being held \u201cin grand style.\u201d Tsikhanouski responded by criticizing independent media and suggested reviewing grants and appealing \u201cto our Western partners with a proposal to take into account the quality and responsibility of recipients when making decisions on further funding\u201d for media outlets.
