{"id":568481,"date":"2026-08-16T17:27:27","date_gmt":"2026-08-16T14:27:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/reform.news\/?p=568481"},"modified":"2026-08-16T18:36:46","modified_gmt":"2026-08-16T15:36:46","slug":"polish-bus-crashes-in-hungary-12-killed-48-injured","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/reform.news\/en\/polish-bus-crashes-in-hungary-12-killed-48-injured","title":{"rendered":"Polish Bus Crashes In Hungary. 12 Killed, 48 Injured"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Twelve people were killed and another 48 injured in a crash involving a Polish bus in Hungary, Polish Prime Minister <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/donaldtusk\/status\/2088890172960084106?s=20\"><strong>Donald Tusk<\/strong><\/a> and Hungarian Prime Minister <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/peter.magyar.102\/posts\/pfbid0CwEFW5QYu2WNBg4U275x4PZ92zADj9h5tkVfqpvEbRRxpzWADJjZV4JJfgobSYeKl\"><strong>P\u00e9ter Magyar<\/strong><\/a> said.<\/p>\n<p>The crash occurred at around 1 a.m. on Aug. 16 on the M3 motorway near Mez\u0151keresztes and Mez\u0151nagymih\u00e1ly. The bus, traveling from Serbia to Poland, left the road and overturned in a ditch.<\/p>\n<p>There were 57 passengers and two drivers on the bus. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/reel\/796518336873421\">data<\/a> from Hungary\u2019s emergency services, 11 people died at the scene and another died after being taken to hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Eleven people suffered serious, life-threatening injuries. Another 37 passengers were hospitalized with minor injuries. The injured were taken to hospitals in Eger, Debrecen, Ny\u00edregyh\u00e1za and Miskolc.<\/p>\n<p>Several people were trapped under the bus. Firefighters used a winch to lift the rear of the 24-ton bus to gain access to the victims. Two mobile cranes then lifted the bus from the slope and placed it back on its wheels.<\/p>\n<p>Donald Tusk said Poland would send a special aircraft to Hungary carrying representatives of the Foreign Ministry and medical services.
