In Babruisk, police seized three combat pistols and seven rounds of ammunition after a 22-year-old local resident reported finding the weapons in his relative\u2019s apartment, the State Forensic Examination Committee said<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The young man contacted police after discovering the pistols and ammunition in his uncle\u2019s apartment. It was established that the man had kept the weapons for many years after inheriting them from his grandfather, believing they were a family heirloom.<\/p>\n

The seized items were sent for forensic ballistic examination. Experts determined that all three pistols were factory-manufactured rifled firearms and remained capable of firing. They included a 6.35 mm Korovin pistol, a 9 mm Borchardt-Luger (Parabellum P08) pistol, and a 7.65 mm Mauser Model 1914 pistol. The German-made Mauser and Luger pistols were widely used during World War II. The Korovin pistol was the first mass-produced Soviet semi-automatic pistol, developed in 1926. According to the State Forensic Examination Committee, such pistols were issued to NKVD officers, mid- and senior-ranking Red Army commanders, government officials and Communist Party officials.<\/p>\n

Experts also concluded that the seven rounds of ammunition were factory-manufactured and suitable for use.<\/p>\n

The Pervomaisky District Police Department in Babruisk is conducting an inquiry into the discovery of the weapons.<\/p>\n

The agency reminded the public that illegal possession of firearms and ammunition is a criminal offence. However, individuals who voluntarily surrender weapons are exempt from criminal liability, provided the case does not involve their sale.<\/p>\n
