On Tuesday, border guards encountered 21 attempts by migrants to cross the border outside designated checkpoints.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Podlasie Border Guard Unit, 18 migrants attempted to cross the Wo\u0142kuszanka River. Two of them immediately returned to Belarus. Fifteen people were detained, while a search is underway for one more individual.<\/p>\n<p>Another incident was recorded on the \u015awis\u0142ocz River. Three foreign nationals were preparing to cross the river but were deterred by a Border Guard patrol.<\/p>\n<p>Those detained include citizens of Eritrea, Somalia and Sudan.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Latvian authorities prevented only 15 attempted illegal border crossings on Tuesday, although they usually record around 100 such attempts each day.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Polish border guards have recorded an increase in attempts by migrants to cross the border from the Belarusian side in recent days.
