{"id":562272,"date":"2026-07-24T14:04:38","date_gmt":"2026-07-24T11:04:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/reform.news\/?p=562272"},"modified":"2026-07-24T15:05:07","modified_gmt":"2026-07-24T12:05:07","slug":"hrodna-activist-valiantsina-navumava-sentenced-to-seven-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/reform.news\/en\/hrodna-activist-valiantsina-navumava-sentenced-to-seven-years","title":{"rendered":"Hrodna Activist Valiantsina Navumava Sentenced to Seven Years"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>The Hrodna Regional Court on July 24 sentenced civic activist <strong>Valiantsina Navumava<\/strong>\u00a0to seven years in a general-regime penal colony, matching the sentence requested by the state prosecutor, <a href=\"https:\/\/hpravy.org\/2026\/07\/24\/%D0%B2%D0%B0%D0%BB%D1%8F%D0%BD%D1%86%D1%96%D0%BD%D1%83-%D0%BD%D0%B0%D0%B2%D1%83%D0%BC%D0%B0%D0%B2%D1%83-%D0%B7%D0%B0%D1%81%D1%83%D0%B4%D0%B7%D1%96%D0%BB%D1%96-%D0%B4%D0%B0-7-%D0%B3%D0%B0%D0%B4%D0%BE\/\">Hrodna Human Rights<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>Navumava was found guilty on nine articles of the Criminal Code, including \u201cfacilitating extremist activity\u201d and \u201cinciting other social hatred.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She was also convicted on charges of defamation, violating the privacy of correspondence, insulting Aliaksandr Lukashenka, insulting a public official, desecrating state symbols and insulting a judge.<\/p>\n<p>The case initially also included a charge under Part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/reform.news\/en\/activist-from-hrodna-to-be-tried-on-10-charges\">\u201cdefaming Lukashenka\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Navumava was a long-time member of the left-wing party Fair World.
