{"id":561161,"date":"2026-07-21T10:35:24","date_gmt":"2026-07-21T07:35:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/reform.news\/?p=561161"},"modified":"2026-07-21T13:28:04","modified_gmt":"2026-07-21T10:28:04","slug":"belarus-grants-approval-for-direct-air-link-with-iran-irna-reports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/reform.news\/en\/belarus-grants-approval-for-direct-air-link-with-iran-irna-reports","title":{"rendered":"Belarus Grants Approval for Direct Air Link With Iran, IRNA Reports"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Belarus has announced that all approvals required to launch direct flights have been issued, allowing Iranian airlines to open a Tehran\u2013Minsk route, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.irna.ir\/news\/86214320\/Iran-and-Belarus-move-to-revive-tourism-ties-with-direct-Tehran-Minsk\">IRNA reported<\/a>, citing the outcome of a meeting between Belarus\u2019s ambassador and Iranian officials.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting took place in Tehran last Monday. It was attended by Belarus\u2019s ambassador to Iran <b>Dzmitry Kaltsou<\/b>, representatives of the Iranian ministry, members of parliament and executives from private-sector tourism businesses.<\/p>\n<p>The report emphasises that <i>\u201cwith direct flight permits now officially issued, the primary logistical barrier has been removed.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n<p>The Belarusian ambassador invited Iranian tour operators to take part in upcoming tourism exhibitions in Minsk and stressed the need to strengthen ties between travel agencies and industry associations.<\/p>\n<p>Plans to launch direct flights between Tehran and Minsk were first reported in 2022. At the time, Mahan Air CEO <b>Hamid Arabnejad<\/b> expressed interest in launching flights to Belarus.<\/p>\n<p>In April 2023, the first Mahan Airlines aircraft arrived in Minsk carrying, among others, Iranian officials. The Iranian side sought <a href=\"https:\/\/reform.news\/iran-hochet-uproshhenija-vizovogo-rezhima-s-belarusju\">simplified visa rules<\/a>, which became a prerequisite for continuing direct air services between Belarus and Iran.<\/p>\n<p>In August 2025, Iran\u2019s Minister of Tourism <b>Reza Salehi Amiri<\/b> said that an agreement on visa-free travel with Belarus had been \u201cfinally reached\u201d during talks in Minsk between Iranian President <b>Masoud Pezeshkian<\/b> and <b>Aliaksandr Lukashenka<\/b>. Salehi Amiri said the two sides had also agreed to launch direct flights between Tehran and Minsk to boost tourism.<\/p>\n<p>At present, Iranian citizens holding ordinary passports cannot enter Belarus without a visa.
