The accident occurred on July 12.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.policevalais.ch\/communiques-pour-les-medias\/zermatt-chute-mortelle-au-cervin-8\/\">Valais cantonal police<\/a>, two climbers died while descending the Matterhorn via the H\u00f6rnli ridge at an altitude of about 4,030 metres at around 11 a.m. on Sunday. A third climber witnessed their fall and called rescuers.<\/p>\n<p>Israeli outlet Ynet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ynet.co.il\/news\/article\/hjd93pmezg\">reports<\/a> that the climbers who died were 32-year-old Israeli <b>Alam Fares<\/b> and a Belarusian man whose name has not been disclosed.<\/p>\n<p>Fares&#8217; relatives told the outlet that he had set off for the mountains on Wednesday, July 8, with his Belarusian climbing partner. They safely reached the summit and began their descent.
