A modular shelter designed to protect residents in emergencies has been installed on the grounds of the Adomas Mitkus<\/b> Primary School in Garliava, Kaunas District. The project cost 186,340 euros and was implemented by Revonia LT.<\/p>\n

The 100-square-metre structure consists of 10 interconnected monolithic reinforced concrete segments. It is equipped with an airtight door system, autonomous LED lighting, a ventilation system with automatic blast valves and an emergency exit. Inside are bench-beds, first-aid kits, fire extinguishers, dry toilets and water containers. Access for people with disabilities is also provided.<\/p>\n

It is one of the first solutions of its kind in the country, enhancing the municipality’s preparedness for emergencies, according to a press release.<\/p>\n

\u201cSecurity issues today require not only plans but also practical solutions. This modular shelter is a concrete step towards strengthening residents’ preparedness for potential threats and a way to create a safer environment for our community,\u201d<\/i> Kaunas District Municipality Mayor Valerijus Mak\u016bnas<\/strong>\u00a0said<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Last year, the district also purchased three mobile civil defence containers equipped with the necessary equipment.<\/p>\n
