The Investigative Committee has launched an inquiry into the major fire in central Minsk.<\/p>\n

According to the committee, at about 6:40 p.m. on Sunday, the director of one of the companies located in an office on the sixth floor of a six-storey building at 9 Lenina Street noticed the smell of smoke and reported it to the Emergencies Ministry.<\/p>\n

The fire eventually spread across an area of more than 1,000 square metres. Firefighters spent several hours bringing the blaze under control, and it was fully extinguished only by 3:00 a.m. on Monday. Residents of the building were temporarily relocated.<\/p>\n

An investigative team is documenting evidence at the scene and interviewing witnesses. The circumstances of the fire will be established as part of the inquiry.<\/p>\n
