A 17-year-old resident of the settlement of Bobr in the Krupki district has been detained on suspicion of a series of arson attacks, the Investigative Committee reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In May, the district emergency services department received reports of fires at several buildings. The blazes damaged outbuildings and a residential house. In all cases, the seat of the fire was located on the exterior of the structures, indicating arson.<\/p>\n

During questioning, the teenager fully admitted his guilt and said he had set the fires out of boredom because he wanted to watch firefighters at work.<\/p>\n

Investigators established that the teenager is registered with the juvenile affairs inspectorate. Since December last year, his family has been classified as being in a socially dangerous situation because the teenager “abuses alcohol, smokes and has repeatedly come to the attention of police officers.”<\/i><\/em> A criminal case had previously been opened against him on hooliganism charges after he damaged the roof of a shop.<\/p>\n

Investigators classified the teenager’s actions as intentional damage to property by a generally dangerous method and hooliganism, combining both cases into a single proceeding. He has been placed in pretrial detention.<\/p>\n

The Krupki District Department of the Investigative Committee is handling the case.<\/p>\n
