The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has classified a Russian strike on the Centralized Spent Nuclear Fuel Storage Facility near the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant as a war crime.<\/p>\n

According to the SBU, a criminal investigation has been opened under Part 1 of Article 438 of Ukraine\u2019s Criminal Code (\u201cViolation of the Laws and Customs of War\u201d).<\/p>\n

According to the agency\u2019s investigative task force, the strike was carried out by a Geran-2 drone at approximately 2:05 a.m. on June 7. Investigators have already recovered several drone components at the scene.<\/p>\n

The explosion damaged facilities used for the reception and transfer of spent nuclear fuel, as well as the administrative building of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).<\/p>\n

The SBU said the attack did not affect the storage facility\u2019s operational processes. According to the agency, radiation levels remain within normal limits, and there were no fatalities or injuries.<\/p>\n

SBU investigators, under the procedural supervision of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor\u2019s Office, are carrying out measures aimed at identifying and bringing to justice those responsible for the attack.<\/p>\n
