The decision was taken by Poland&#8217;s Minister of Interior and Administration.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;This decision is driven by the need to maintain the highest level of operational vigilance and a high degree of border protection effectiveness,&#8221;<\/em> the ministry said.<\/p>\n<p>The ministry also noted that only 215 attempts by migrants to cross the border illegally were recorded between January and May 2026, a 98% decrease compared with the same period in 2025, when more than 10,600 attempts were registered.<\/p>\n<p>The buffer zone was introduced on June 13, 2024. It prohibits access to designated areas along the border. The zone covers a 78.29-kilometre section of the frontier within the jurisdiction of Border Guard units in Micha\u0142owo, Narewka, Bia\u0142owie\u017ca, Dubicze Cerkiewne and Czeremcha.<\/p>\n<p>Along a 59.24-kilometre stretch, the zone extends 200 metres from the border line. On a 15.26-kilometre section located near nature reserves, the zone is approximately 2 kilometres wide, while on a further 3.79-kilometre section it extends around 4 kilometres inland.<\/p>\n<p>The measure is renewed every 90 days.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The buffer zone on Poland&#8217;s border with Belarus will remain in force until August 31.
