Lukerya<\/b> and Veranika Mirontseva<\/b>, who were accused of attempted assistance to extremist activity, have been released from custody, Nasha Niva reports<\/a>. According to the publication, the court sentenced both women to \u201chome chemistry\u201d \u2014 a form of restricted freedom served at home.<\/p>\n

The women were released immediately after the verdict was announced. Their detention<\/a> became known in December 2025. They had been held in Detention Center No. 1 on charges of attempted assistance to extremist activity<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In August 2020, sisters Viktoryia<\/b>, Anastasiya<\/b>, and Aliaksandra Mirontseva<\/b> stood up for citizens who were being beaten by OMON officers. Aliaksandra managed to leave the country, while Viktoryia and Anastasiya were detained in October 2020.<\/p>\n

Anastasiya was sentenced<\/a> to two years in a general-regime penal colony, while Viktoryia received 2.5 years in prison. The sisters were charged under Part 1 of Article 342 of the Criminal Code (active participation in group actions grossly violating public order) and Article 364 of the Criminal Code (violence or threat of violence against a law enforcement officer). Viktoryia was also charged under Part 1 of Article 363 of the Criminal Code (resisting a law enforcement officer). In 2022, both sisters were released after fully serving their sentences.<\/p>\n

Veranika is the twin sister of previously convicted Viktoryia. She and her retired mother remained in Minsk until their detention at the end of 2025.<\/p>\n
