The alert level was later lowered from red to yellow.<\/p>\n<p><em><i>\u201cThis means that danger is possible, people should take shelter, but it is not necessary to remain there at the moment.\u201d<\/i><\/em>, the National Crisis Management Centre said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The alert was cancelled at around 5:50 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Lithuanian President <b>Gitanas Naus\u0117da<\/b> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/nausedagitanas\/posts\/pfbid0342PwXoHDH6GNzdpg3Lz5eX6NNroNejAHHYrtcwHnP4riFnAb8J7HavjsNy16CbXtl\">said<\/a> that the country\u2019s airspace had presumably been violated by two drones. NATO fighter jets were scrambled.<\/p>\n<p>Residents of Utena district received emergency alerts on their phones and were urged to immediately seek shelter in designated shelters or safe premises. Several train services were suspended \u2014 routes affected included Vilnius\u2013Trakai, Vilnius\u2013Turmantas and Ignalina\u2013Vilnius, affecting around 180 passengers. Retail chain Maxima temporarily suspended operations at 18 stores across several districts.<\/p>\n<p>Prime Minister <b>Inga Ruginien\u0117<\/b> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/inga.ruginiene\/posts\/pfbid0FBgnMTPkb6m5Yzr8hBbEWdhv44QN2KbEUQRdh5DXdVxVaNqecNZkRwe8GshNW8igl\">said<\/a> that the suspicious object was moving from the north from Pabrad\u0117.<\/p>\n<p>As previously reported, on the morning of 20 May an air alert was declared in some areas of <a href=\"https:\/\/reform.news\/en\/air-raid-alert-declared-in-lithuania-due-to-suspected-drone-approaching-from-belarus\">Lithuania<\/a> because of a suspected drone spotted in Belarus near the Lithuanian border. Vilnius Airport temporarily suspended operations.
