The warhead of a Russian R-60 missile, fragments of which were found in Ukraine\u2019s Chernihiv region, contained destructive elements made of depleted uranium, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The modified Geran-2 strike drone was used in an attack on the Chernihiv region on the night of April 7 this year. Elevated radiation levels were detected on fragments of the R-60 air-to-air missile mounted on the drone.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring radiation reconnaissance in the immediate vicinity of the wreckage of the enemy drone carrying the missile, a gamma radiation level of 12 \u03bcSv\/h was recorded, significantly exceeding the natural background radiation level and posing a threat to human health\u201d<\/i><\/em>, the SBU said.<\/p>\n

Tests established that the missile\u2019s warhead contains destructive elements made of depleted uranium, identified as Uranium-235 and Uranium-238.<\/p>\n

The SBU has launched a pre-trial investigation under an article concerning a war crime.<\/p>\n
