The number of brigade groups has returned to the 2021 level.<\/p>\n<p><i>\u201cThis decision was the result of a comprehensive, multi-level process focused on the deployment of U.S. forces in Europe. As a result, there is a temporary delay in the deployment of American troops in Poland, which is a model U.S. ally,\u201d<\/i> the statement said.<\/p>\n<p>The final decision on the deployment of U.S. forces in Europe will be made by the department based on <i>\u201cfurther analysis of U.S. strategic and operational requirements, as well as the ability of our allies to provide forces for the defense of Europe.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>\u201cThis analysis is intended to advance President <b>Trump<\/b>\u2019s \u2018America First\u2019 agenda in Europe and other regions, including by encouraging and enabling our NATO allies to assume primary responsibility for Europe\u2019s conventional defense.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>Secretary <b>Hegseth<\/b> spoke by phone this morning with Polish Deputy Prime Minister <b>Kosiniak-Kamysz<\/b>, and the department will remain in close contact with its Polish counterparts as this analysis proceeds, including to ensure that the United States maintains a strong military presence in Poland. Poland has demonstrated both the capability and determination to defend itself.
