Authorities in the Senna district have long been unsuccessfully trying to sell the partially ruined Belitsa estate, a Category 2 historical and cultural heritage site. Now the task has become even more difficult: during an inspection of historical sites, the Senna district prosecutor\u2019s office documented a dump of household waste and wood debris on the grounds of the former estate, Telegram channel Orsha.eu reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The estate, located in the village of Polymia (formerly Belitsa), was built in the late Classicist style in the 19th century. Its last owners were the \u015awiacki noble family. In 1903-1904, Ivan Daminikavich Lutsevich<\/b> \u2014 later the national poet of Belarus Yanka Kupala<\/b> \u2014 worked there as a junior steward. A commemorative plaque on the building marks this fact.<\/p>\n

However, the status of Senna district\u2019s historical and cultural heritage sites is also being ignored by local authorities: the district prosecutor\u2019s office found that eight archaeological monuments with Category 3 protected status lack preservation plaques, the Orsha.eu Telegram channel notes.<\/p>\n
