A fragment of a reinforced concrete parapet measuring 0.4 by 3 meters collapsed from the roof of a nine-story residential building built in 1993 in Zhlobin. The incident occurred on May 8 in the city\u2019s 19th microdistrict, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The debris fell onto the attached one-story building of a Kopeechka grocery store. As a result, 5 square meters of the roof\u2019s sandwich panels and 10 square meters of the store\u2019s suspended ceiling were damaged. Fortunately, no one was injured. The store\u2019s operations have been suspended.<\/p>\n

The presumed cause of the collapse is described as natural wear and aging of the building\u2019s structural components.<\/p>\n

As reported<\/a> by Novy Dzien, a working group headed by Deputy Chairman of the District Executive Committee and head of the district emergency commission Siarhei Andrusyou<\/b> was established. According to him, the housing utility service has been instructed to inspect all parapets of the building with the involvement of a specialized design organization.<\/p>\n

\u201cA decision will be made on additional reinforcement of the parapets or their replacement. No one was injured,\u201d<\/i> he said.<\/p>\n
