The picture was taken at a Warsaw hospital, where he is undergoing medical examinations. Within an hour of publication, dozens of comments appeared under the post welcoming the journalist to freedom.<\/p>\n<p>In February 2023, Poczobut was sentenced to eight years in a high-security penal colony. The trial was held behind closed doors. He was found guilty of inciting hatred and calling for sanctions.<\/p>\n<p>On April 28, an exchange took place at the Pererov\u2013Belovezha checkpoint on the Belarusian-Polish border under a 5-for-5 formula. Three Polish and two Moldovan nationals were released by Belarus and Russia. Belarus handed over to Poland journalist <a href=\"https:\/\/reform.news\/en\/poczobut-released-belarusian-kgb-and-polish-intelligence-agency-carry-out-5-for-5-exchange\"><strong>Andrzej Poczobut<\/strong><\/a>, Carmelite monk <a href=\"https:\/\/reform.news\/en\/belarus-hands-over-monk-grzegorz-gawel-to-poland\"><strong>Grzegorz Gawe\u0142<\/strong><\/a>, and <strong><b>Tomasz Beroza<\/b><\/strong>, who had been convicted on espionage charges. Russia handed over two members of Moldova\u2019s special services.<\/p>\n<p>Poland handed over to Russia archaeologist <strong><b>Alexander Butyagin<\/b><\/strong>, and to Belarus Belarusian spy <strong><b>Uladzislau Nadzieika<\/b><\/strong>. Moldova handed over to Belarus former intelligence officer <a href=\"https:\/\/reform.news\/en\/moldova-hands-over-convicted-traitor-alexandru-balan-to-belarus\"><strong>Alexandru Balan<\/strong><\/a>, and to Russia Russian national <strong><b>Nina Popova<\/b><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>At the border, Andrzej Poczobut was welcomed by Poland\u2019s Prime Minister <strong><b>Donald Tusk<\/b><\/strong>.
