On April 28, Belarus\u2019 ambassador to Bangladesh, concurrently accredited, Mikhail Kasko<\/b>, paid a working visit to Dhaka, where he held a series of meetings with members of the country\u2019s government. Among the topics discussed were issues of labour migration.<\/p>\n

Kasko met with adviser to the prime minister with the rank of minister Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir<\/b>, Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Mohammed Aminur Rashid<\/b>, and State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh Shama Obaed Islam<\/b>.<\/p>\n

“During the meetings, the parties discussed in detail the current state and prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation, noted with satisfaction the continuity of strong ties between Minsk and Dhaka, and confirmed their mutual intention to further strengthen friendly relations. In discussions with the leadership of the \u043f\u0440\u043e\u0444\u0438\u043b\u044c\u043d\u044b\u0445 ministries, priority areas for future work were identified”<\/em>, the Belarusian embassy in India said.<\/p>\n

Bangladesh\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs provided further details of the meeting. According to the ministry\u2019s press release, the parties discussed deepening cooperation in defence, as well as issues of labour migration.<\/p>\n

“The parties held productive discussions on expanding bilateral cooperation in key areas, including agriculture, defence, the textile and ready-made garment industries, migration of skilled and semi-skilled labour, the information technology sector, pharmaceuticals and the jute industry. <\/em><\/p>\n

They also stressed the importance of strengthening people-to-people contacts to further consolidate the foundation of bilateral relations. Both sides agreed that various bilateral mechanisms, including foreign ministry consultations, should be held more frequently to accelerate discussions and advance cooperation in identified priority areas”<\/em>, the ministry said<\/a>.<\/p>\n
