{"id":534473,"date":"2026-04-17T12:50:13","date_gmt":"2026-04-17T09:50:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/reform.news\/?p=534473"},"modified":"2026-04-17T13:28:50","modified_gmt":"2026-04-17T10:28:50","slug":"couple-from-drahichyn-district-sentenced-to-huge-terms-for-alleged-terrorism-added-to-extremist-list","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/reform.news\/en\/couple-from-drahichyn-district-sentenced-to-huge-terms-for-alleged-terrorism-added-to-extremist-list","title":{"rendered":"Couple From Drahichyn District Sentenced to Huge Terms for Alleged \u201cTerrorism\u201d Added to \u201cExtremist List\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>The Interior Ministry has added another 21 people to the \u201cList of Citizens of the Republic of Belarus, Foreign Citizens or Stateless Persons Involved in Extremist Activities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Among those added to the list were a married couple from the Drahichyn District, <strong>Dzmitry Kapuza<\/strong> and <strong>Volha Kapuza<\/strong>, who were sentenced to 24 and 21 years in prison respectively on charges of an \u201cact of terrorism\u201d and \u201cillegal handling of ammunition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Thirty-six-year-old Dzmitry and Volha were detained on January 16, 2024. After their detention, state television aired a program titled \u201cCleanup. Fight Against Saboteurs and Agents of Ukrainian Special Services in Belarus,\u201d in which propagandists claimed that the couple had allegedly worked for Ukrainian intelligence services. A total of 12 people were detained at that time. They were accused of allegedly collecting explosives and creating hidden caches across Belarus. During the arrest, Dzmitry was shot and wounded in the thigh.<\/p>\n<p>The trial was held behind closed doors. In addition to prison terms, Dzmitry and Volha received large fines.
