Skvernelis is suspected in a corruption case involving the State Plant Service. According to investigators, he accepted bribes in several stages totalling at least 51,000 euros in exchange for patronage.<\/p>\n<p>Skvernelis himself asked lawmakers to vote in favour of lifting his immunity so that he could become a participant in the criminal proceedings and exercise all of his rights.<\/p>\n<p>Saulius Skvernelis has also stepped down as leader of the Democrats &#8220;For Lithuania&#8221; party.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Lithuanian Seimas has voted to strip former prime minister Saulius Skvernelis of his parliamentary immunity.
