{"id":533556,"date":"2026-04-13T23:16:48","date_gmt":"2026-04-13T20:16:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/reform.news\/?p=533556"},"modified":"2026-04-14T11:24:27","modified_gmt":"2026-04-14T08:24:27","slug":"latushka-urges-hungary-to-reverse-decision-to-leave-icc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/reform.news\/en\/latushka-urges-hungary-to-reverse-decision-to-leave-icc","title":{"rendered":"Latushka Urges Hungary to Reverse Decision to Leave ICC"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>Deputy head of the United Transitional Cabinet <strong><b>Pavel Latushka<\/b><\/strong> congratulated <strong><b>P\u00e9ter Magyar<\/b><\/strong> on his victory in Hungary\u2019s parliamentary election and urged him to reverse the Hungarian parliament\u2019s decision to withdraw from the International Criminal Court.<\/p>\n<p><em><i>&#8220;In light of renewed pro-European mandate, I would like to highlight the possibility of invoking Article 68 of the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties to revoke Hungary\u2019s withdrawal from the Rome Statute.<br \/>\nVictims from Belarus hope that Hungary remains committed to international justice, where those responsible for grave crimes, such as Lukashenko, face justice in The Hague&#8221;<\/i><\/em>, Latushka <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/pavellatushka\/status\/2043745509559418985\">wrote<\/a> on X.<\/p>\n<p>In April 2025, Hungary\u2019s parliament voted to withdraw from participation in the International Criminal Court, describing the ICC as a politicized body that had \u201clost its impartiality and authority.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The International Criminal Court is the first permanent international criminal justice body with jurisdiction to prosecute individuals responsible for genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity and the crime of aggression. It was established on the basis of the Rome Statute, adopted on July 17, 1998.
