However, the size of the deficit narrowed in January-February compared with the same period last year, according to data from Belstat.<\/p>\n<p><mark>Belarusian goods exports in January-February<\/mark> increased by 16.6% to $6.7 billion. Imports rose by 11.7% to $7.59 billion. The foreign trade deficit amounted to $888.3 million, which was 15.4% lower than a year earlier. In January-February 2025, the goods trade deficit exceeded $1 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Exports of goods to CIS countries in January-February increased by 21.2% to $4.88 billion, while imports from those countries rose by 15.5% to $4.52 billion. The trade surplus with CIS countries amounted to $356.3 million, tripling compared with last year.<\/p>\n<p>In trade with non-CIS countries, Belarusian exports over the two months increased by 5.9% to $1.82 billion, while imports rose by 6.4% to $3.06 billion. Imports exceeded exports by $1.24 billion, which was 7.2% higher than a year earlier.<\/p>\n<p><mark>In February<\/mark>, Belarusian goods exports rose by 14.6% to $3.44 billion, while imports increased by 16% to $4.13 billion. The February foreign trade deficit in goods amounted to $686.1 million, which was 23.9% higher than a year earlier.<\/p>\n<p>In trade with CIS countries in February, exports exceeded imports by $81.9 million, twice as much as a year earlier. Belarusian goods exports to CIS countries increased by 18% to $2.52 billion, while imports rose by 16.2% to $2.44 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Belarusian goods exports to countries outside the CIS increased by 6.2% in February to $919.2 million. Imports, meanwhile, rose by 15.7% to $1.69 billion.
