Imports rose by 3.5% to $3.8 billion. As a result, the foreign trade surplus amounted to $153.7 million. A year earlier, the year had begun with a trade deficit of $228.3 million.<\/p>\n<p>Trade in goods remained in deficit. Exports of goods rose by 10% to $2.96 billion, while imports increased by 2.1% to $3.19 billion. The goods trade deficit amounted to $231.8 million, down 46.8% compared with the first month of last year.<\/p>\n<p>Exports of services increased by 31.7% to $1 billion in January, while imports rose by 11.5% to $616.5 million.
