{"id":518779,"date":"2026-02-18T22:50:48","date_gmt":"2026-02-18T19:50:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/reform.news\/?p=518779"},"modified":"2026-02-19T09:02:10","modified_gmt":"2026-02-19T06:02:10","slug":"submissions-open-for-the-jerzy-giedroyc-literary-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/reform.news\/en\/submissions-open-for-the-jerzy-giedroyc-literary-award","title":{"rendered":"Submissions Open for the Jerzy Giedroyc Literary Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p class=\"reforma\" lang=\"be-BY\">The Belarusian PEN and the International Union of Belarusian Writers invite submissions for the fifteenth season of the <b>Jerzy Giedroyc<\/b> Award \u2014 a prize for the best original book in the Belarusian language in the genres of fiction and documentary prose.<\/p>\n<p class=\"reforma\" lang=\"be-BY\">The award accepts books first published between January 1 and December 31, 2025, in one of the eligible formats: print, electronic, or audio.<\/p>\n<p class=\"reforma\" lang=\"be-BY\">Authors, publishers, creative associations, cultural institutions, media outlets, jury members, and the organizing committee may nominate books.<\/p>\n<p class=\"reforma\" lang=\"be-BY\">To nominate a book, applicants must complete a <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/1YHJ9sYYo4-08JAFPzOm2xRW4m3kQwOEGFzUtsFIoCjM\/viewform?edit_requested=true\">special form<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"reforma\" lang=\"be-BY\">Deadline: March 3, 2026 (23:59 Belarus time).<\/p>\n<p class=\"reforma\" lang=\"be-BY\">All details are available <a href=\"https:\/\/penbelarus.org\/2026\/02\/18\/abvyashchaem-zbor-zayavak-na-galounuyu-belaruskuyu-litaraturnuyu-premiyu.html\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"be-BY\">The Jerzy Giedroyc Award has existed since 2012 and is now the main independent literary prize in Belarus.<\/p>\n<p>During last season\u2019s ceremony at the European Solidarity Centre in Gda\u0144sk, the winners were: <b>Siarhei Dubavets<\/b> with the book <a href=\"https:\/\/giedroyc.penbelarus.org\/zanzibar-stalenne-maladoj-dushy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noindex noopener\">\u201cZanzibar: The Formation of a Young Soul\u201d<\/a> (1st place), <b>Yuhasia Kaliada<\/b> with the book <a href=\"https:\/\/giedroyc.penbelarus.org\/peramena-mesczau\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noindex noopener\">\u201cChange of Places\u201d<\/a> (2nd place), and <b>Zmicer Dziadzenka<\/b> with the book <a href=\"https:\/\/giedroyc.penbelarus.org\/gulni-czyrczei\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noindex noopener\">\u201cCirce\u2019s Games\u201d<\/a> (3rd place).<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"info\"><p><b>Subscribe to Reform.news cultural updates <a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/cult_front\">on Telegram<\/a><\/b><\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Belarusian PEN and the International Union of Belarusian Writers invite submissions for the fifteenth season of the Jerzy Giedroyc Award \u2014 a prize for the best original book in the Belarusian language in the genres of fiction and documentary prose.
