The Russian Foreign Ministry has \u201cin a comradely manner\u201d urged Belarus to \u201cremain vigilant\u201d in its dealings with the United States. This was stated by Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin<\/b>, TASS reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor our part, we welcome any constructive initiatives in the context of normalizing the Belarusian-American dialogue and lifting unlawful restrictive measures, but at the same time we, in a comradely manner, call on our Belarusian friends to remain vigilant,\u201d<\/i> he said.<\/p>\n

According to him, in this context Russia \u201cvalues the public statements\u201d of Aliaksandr Lukashenka<\/b> that a \u201cmajor deal\u201d between Minsk and Washington is possible only if the national interests of the Republic of Belarus are taken into account and there is no damage to its cooperation with key allies \u2014 Russia and China.<\/p>\n

Galuzin expressed confidence that attempts by \u201cunfriendly states\u201d to find disagreements between Moscow and Minsk would prove futile.<\/p>\n

\u201cHowever, we are confident that, given the special nature of Russian-Belarusian relations, any attempts by unfriendly states to find \u2018gaps\u2019 in our positions in international affairs will remain fruitless,\u201d<\/i> the diplomat said.<\/p>\n

He also described the lifting of US sanctions on Belavia as \u201cgood news,\u201d but said this does not mean the end of the West\u2019s transport blockade.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe removal last November by the administration of [US President] Donald Trump<\/strong> of the airline Belavia from the US Treasury\u2019s \u2018blacklists,\u2019 as well as the elimination of pseudo-legal barriers to operating flights to most regions of Russia, which is the main market for this carrier, are certainly good news,\u201d<\/i> he noted. \u201cAt the same time, it should be noted that, in general, the large-scale sanctions regime against Belarus continues to operate,\u201d<\/i> the deputy minister stressed. \u201cDespite this \u2018step toward Minsk\u2019 showcased by the American side, the US administration has not yet abandoned its policy of pressure on Belarus.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

\u201cMoreover, the measure taken does not lead to solving the problem of fully restoring air links and the collective West\u2019s abandonment of the strategy of a transport blockade of our countries,\u201d<\/i> Galuzin added.<\/p>\n

He noted that the authorization applies only to the operation of eight narrow-body Boeing 737 aircraft, and obtaining any American spare part in the event of a malfunction would require separate approval from regulators.<\/p>\n
