{"id":512756,"date":"2026-01-27T15:59:59","date_gmt":"2026-01-27T12:59:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/reform.news\/?p=512756"},"modified":"2026-01-27T16:19:03","modified_gmt":"2026-01-27T13:19:03","slug":"coordination-council-to-hold-hearings-on-vasil-verameichyk-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/reform.news\/en\/coordination-council-to-hold-hearings-on-vasil-verameichyk-case","title":{"rendered":"Coordination Council to Hold Hearings on Vasil Verameichyk Case"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<p>On January 28, the Coordination Council will hold hearings on the case of former Kalino\u016dski Regiment fighter <b>Vasil Verameichyk<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><i>\u201cDuring the hearings, there will be a public review of information that has appeared in the media and the public space regarding the circumstances related to the ban on <em>Vasil Verameichyk<\/em>\u2019s entry into Ukraine and Lithuania, as well as an assessment of the possible role of representatives of democratic structures in these processes,\u201d<\/i> the Coordination Council said.<\/p>\n<p>The hearings are being held to increase transparency, accountability, and trust in the activities of Belarusian democratic forces and to prevent similar situations from recurring in the future.<\/p>\n<p>The broadcast will be available on the Coordination Council\u2019s YouTube channel. The start is scheduled for 16:00 Central European Time (18:00 Minsk time).<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, former Kalino\u016dski Regiment fighter Vasil Verameichyk was detained in Vietnam and extradited to Belarus in November 2024. Prior to that, Ukraine had banned him from entering its territory, and Lithuania had recognized him as a threat to national security due to his service in the Belarusian army in 2010\u20132016.<\/p>\n<p>In November 2025, Verameichyk was sentenced to 13 years in prison.
