Defense Minister Viktar Khrenin explained that the inspection being carried out on the instruction of Alyaksandr Lukashenka, which has been underway since mid-January, and the activities starting today are being conducted in parallel.

“These are completely different inspections. The one conducted by the commander-in-chief is by decision of our president. The inspection under the plans of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff is a separate activity, but the commander-in-chief has been informed and knows that we will be conducting it,” Khrenin said.

Earlier today, Lukashenka stated that the Armed Forces readiness check would continue until spring.

The defense minister also spoke about how the inspection that began today will be conducted.

“This inspection will be comprehensive in nature, with a phased increase in both personnel and the number of military units and subunits involved. A specific feature of this inspection will be that, within the framework of preparing the trained reserve for the Armed Forces, it is a planned activity, while for the military units and subunits being inspected it will be unplanned in nature, in the form of a surprise inspection.

The main goal of the activities being carried out is to assess the readiness and ability of personnel to carry out the full range of measures to prepare for performing their assigned tasks. From the call-up of reservists to the removal from storage of weapons, military and special equipment, the conduct of combat coordination, and preparation for movement to concentration areas,” he said.

According to him, particular attention will be paid to security, camouflage, and countering modern means of attack, including drones.

“At the final stage of the inspection, we plan to conduct a comprehensive exercise at various training grounds and terrain areas with the subunits and military units involved in the inspection. New forms and methods of conducting defensive and offensive operations will be practiced, with extensive use of unmanned aerial vehicles and electronic warfare systems,” Khrenin added.

Photo: The Ministry of Defense

Photo: The Ministry of Defense

The Ministry of Defense has launched its own combat readiness check of formations and military units, the ministry’s press service reported.
